Repair, pass on or clear?
Irish weather is hard on garden furniture. Before you decide it all has to go, a few quick checks tell you what is finished and what just needs an afternoon's work:
- Timber: push a screwdriver into the feet and joints. If it sinks in easily, the wood is rotten and repair rarely lasts.
- Metal: surface rust can be wire-brushed and painted. Rust that has eaten through a leg or a weld cannot.
- Plastic: white stress marks and cracks mean it has gone brittle in the sun. It will snap, usually with someone sitting on it.
- Rattan-effect: fraying weave can be patched; a sagging or snapped frame cannot.
Pieces that pass are worth offering to a neighbour or a local free-to-collect listing. The rest is what we are for.
What garden furniture disposal costs
Every job is a €100 call-out and labour charge in Dublin, covering the van and two loaders, plus a set price for each item from our price list. VAT is included.
- Garden or patio table: €20
- Garden bench, wood or steel: €20; plastic: €15
- Chairs: €5 each
- Charcoal BBQ: €5.25; gas BBQ without the cylinder: €25
- Trampoline: €75
- Garden pots up to 10 kg: €5 each
BBQs and gas cylinders
We take gas BBQs, but not the cylinder. Turn off the valve, disconnect the regulator and keep the cylinder back. Cylinders usually belong to the gas supplier, so return them to a stockist or the supplier. The same goes for a patio heater.
For a charcoal BBQ, empty the ash and leftover charcoal once it is completely cold. Cold ash can go in your general waste bin.
Taking a trampoline apart
A trampoline is bulky rather than heavy. Trampolines are sold by diameter, from about 8 ft to 14 ft, and even the small ones will not fit through a side passage in one piece. Taking it apart before the day makes the carry far easier:
- 1Unclip the safety net and pull out the poles.
- 2Unhook the springs with a spring tool or pliers, working opposite sides so the mat stays even. Wear gloves: springs pinch.
- 3Lift off the mat and fold it.
- 4Separate the frame sections and the legs.
- 5Put every spring in a bag or box. They vanish in long grass.
If it has rusted solid and will not come apart, mention that when you get your price.
Rattan, parasols and cushions
- Rattan sets don't have a single line on the list. Send a photo of the whole set and they are priced with everything else; a person on our team checks anything big or unusual.
- Parasol bases filled with water or sand are fine once emptied. Solid concrete bases are on our declined list.
- Cushions and covers you are not keeping can go in black bags at €5 each.
- Glass table tops should be intact and kept flat. Tell us if one is cracked.

When to clear
Late summer and early autumn suit a clear-out. Once the BBQ season is over, it is easy to see what will not make another winter, and clearing it before the wet weather stops broken furniture rotting into the lawn.
Spring is the other busy moment, when a new set is on order. Collections run on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 14:00–16:00, so book the old set out before the delivery date.
Getting it out of the garden
Two loaders carry everything from the back garden, whether through a side passage in a Templeogue semi-d or straight through the house in a Drumcondra mid-terrace with no side access. Clear a path through the kitchen and hall if that is the only way out, lift pots out of the route and tie back shrubs that overhang the side passage.
You don't have to be home if access is agreed in advance, for example with everything left in the front garden or driveway. Otherwise someone needs to be there to open up.
Ask the neighbours before you book. Your price is for the collection you book, so it stays the same if a neighbour takes the bench on the day. If the bench finds a home after you've booked, cancel free more than 24 hours before and book again without it.
Add the rest of the garden
The call-out is charged once per job, so the rest of the garden can go on the same visit: garden waste at €5 a bag, a lawn mower with the petrol drained at €10.50, or a 6×4 shed at €110. See our shed removal guide or garden waste removal.
