Clearing out in Lucan and Clondalkin: what usually goes

Lucan village sits down in the Liffey valley, with estates like Esker, Ballyowen, Hillcrest and Foxborough spread out above it. Clondalkin keeps its round tower and village centre, ringed by estates such as Rowlagh, Neilstown and Bawnogue. Adamstown is newer: apartments, duplexes and townhouses.

Back gardens here get a lot of use and wear things out: a trampoline with a torn net, garden furniture that has seen better summers, a shed that has started to lean. Indoors, it's bunk beds outgrown, a sofa replaced, a box room that became storage. Put it all on one price and it goes in one visit.

In Lucan village itself, the older houses and terraces sit on narrow streets near the river, where stopping right outside isn't always possible. That's fine: the loaders carry to wherever the van can park, and a trampoline, usually the biggest thing in the garden, is one of the easiest items to price from a photo.

Old appliances: try the free options first

South Dublin County Council's guidance on electrical waste is worth knowing before you book anyone. When you buy a new appliance, the shop has to take your old one back free on a one-for-one basis, as long as it's a similar type. Electricals can also go free to the council's Ballymount Civic Amenity in Greenhills.
