Which north Dublin page is yours?
North Dublin is a big area, so the coast and the outer suburbs have their own pages with more local detail:
- Howth and Clontarf: Clontarf, Raheny, Killester, Sutton, Baldoyle and the peninsula
- Swords and Malahide: north County Dublin, from Portmarnock up to Balbriggan
- Blanchardstown: Castleknock, Clonsilla and the rest of Dublin 15
- Dublin city centre: Dublin 1, Smithfield and Stoneybatter
This page covers everything in between: Phibsborough, Cabra, Glasnevin, Drumcondra, Fairview, Marino, Whitehall, Santry, Ballymun, Finglas, Beaumont, Artane, Donnycarney and Coolock.
Clearing out on the northside: what usually goes
Many red-brick terraces around Drumcondra, Phibsborough and Glasnevin have no side passage, so a shed full of junk at the back has to come out through the hall. That's routine for us: the loaders carry it through the house and sweep up after.
In the big estates of Finglas, Whitehall, Artane and Coolock, the junk usually sits in the attic, the garage or the box room. Think an old three-piece suite, a bed the children have outgrown, or a garage stacked with boxes at €10 each.
Shared houses near DCU
Around DCU's campuses in Glasnevin and Drumcondra, the end of the college year empties a run of shared houses at once. The leftovers are much the same from house to house: bed frames, a mattress or two at €30 each, a desk, and bags of whatever the last tenants didn't bring home.
Landlords can photograph each room once the tenants have gone, check every line, and book a slot before the new lease starts. If you can't be there on the day, agree access in advance, or leave the items somewhere the crew can reach.
Council options on the northside
Most of this area is in Dublin City Council, which runs a recycling centre in Ballymun as well as North Strand and Ringsend. They're for household waste only; charges depend on what you bring and the size of your vehicle, and electrical equipment goes free.
Replacing a washing machine or fridge? The shop has to take your old one back free when you buy a similar new one, and can collect it on delivery. For everything else, or when it won't fit in the car, get my price from a photo. (Council details checked October 2026.)
