Clearing out in Bray: what usually goes

Bray packs a lot into a small area: Victorian terraces and converted flats near the seafront and Quinsboro Road, older houses in Little Bray, and family estates around Ballywaltrim, Boghall Road and the Southern Cross Road, with Bray Head over all of it.

Near the seafront, the jobs are mostly flat clear-outs: a sofa, a bed and a mattress carried down a few flights, with on-street parking to work around. In the estates, it's the attic, the garage and the back garden. Out towards Enniskerry, Kilmacanogue and Newtownmountkennedy, bigger gardens mean sheds and outbuildings; a large wooden shed is €175.

What Bray Recycling Centre won't take

Wicklow County Council's Bray Recycling Centre on Boghall Road is for household use, and it takes electrical items with a plug or battery. Its leaflet also lists what it doesn't accept, including bulky furniture, mattresses, carpets, garden waste and ceramic toilets.

So it's a good home for an old kettle, or a lawn mower with the oil and petrol removed, but not for a sofa or a mattress. Those are on our list: a three-seater sofa is €35 and a mattress €30. Bagged garden waste is €5 a bag. (Council details checked October 2026.)

How the Wicklow call-out works

Shankill, just over the border, is in County Dublin and has the Dublin call-out; it's on our Dún Laoghaire page. You don't need to work it out yourself: the assistant applies the call-out for the county you choose.

Questions

Junk removal in Bray: your questions

Anything else? See all FAQs or email hello@junkireland.com.

Why does a Bray job cost more than one in Shankill?

Only the call-out differs. Bray is in County Wicklow, so the call-out is €120, while Shankill is in County Dublin. A sofa (€35) or a mattress (€30) costs the same on both sides of the border, and Bray jobs start from €125.

When can you collect in Bray and Greystones?

On Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 14:00–16:00, as in Dublin. Pick a free slot when you book; someone needs to be home, or access agreed in advance.

Will Bray Recycling Centre take my mattress?

Not according to Wicklow County Council's leaflet, which lists mattresses, bulky furniture and carpets among the things it doesn't accept. We take mattresses at €30 each.

Is parking near the seafront a problem?

It can be busy on a sunny day, so once you've booked, reply to the confirmation email to tell us where the van can stop. The loaders carry everything from the flat to the van by hand, whatever the floor.

Do you take old carpet and a toilet from a bathroom refit?

Yes. Carpet is €2 per m² and a toilet €10.50. We can't take tiles or rubble from the strip-out.
