Clearing out in Blackrock and Stillorgan: what usually goes

Many homes in Mount Merrion, Kilmacud, Stillorgan and Foxrock have been family homes for decades, and clearing one is rarely quick. The furniture is often solid and heavy: a display cabinet at €60, a sideboard at €25, a dining table at €20, and books by the bag at €10.50. Attics and garages hold the overflow of several decades: suitcases, old toys, a cot, the spare dining chairs.

Closer to the coast, Blackrock, Booterstown and Williamstown mix period houses with apartments, and the jobs are often smaller: a sofa replaced, a spare room turned into an office, a single item that won't fit in the car.

Downsizing and probate, at the family's pace

When parents move somewhere smaller, or a house has to be emptied after a death, there are decisions to make before anything goes. Let the family take what they want first, then photograph what's left, room by room.

You'll see every item and its price before you book. For a whole clearance, confirm the contents, load size and access in chat before booking. Our team checks uncertain jobs, as soon as possible during business hours. Agree what is going before you book: the price is for the collection you book, so it stays the same if the family keeps a listed item on the day. If the house needs emptying in stages, book a second collection later; each visit is priced on its own.

Our house clearance page covers whole-house jobs in more detail, including probate.

Apartments along the Stillorgan Road

Apartment blocks along the N11 and around Blackrock usually have a management company with rules on lifts, loading and visitor parking. Check them before you book, then send them on in a reply to your confirmation email so the crew works within them. A single sofa or bed is a normal job for us too: one €100 call-out plus that item's price.

Questions

Junk removal in Blackrock & Stillorgan: your questions

Anything else? See all FAQs or email hello@junkireland.com.

How do you price heavy period furniture?

Each piece has its own line on our list, whatever it weighs: a large display cabinet is €60, a sideboard €25 and a chest of drawers €15. Add one €100 call-out for the job; jobs start from €105.

Can we time the clearance around the house sale?

Yes. Get your price as soon as you know what's going, then book a slot on one of our collection days (Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 14:00–16:00) that suits the sale. You can reschedule free more than 24 hours before.

Does anyone need to be at the house?

Someone needs to be there, or access agreed in advance. A relative, a neighbour or the executor can let the crew in, or the items can be left somewhere we can reach.

Can you clear only what the family doesn't want?

Yes. Photograph or list just those items, and those are the items we take. It helps to mark anything that's staying, so it's obvious on the day.

Do you take books and boxes of papers?

Books, yes, at €10.50 a bag. We don't offer a shredding service, so keep back papers with personal details and shred them first.
