Clearing out in Dún Laoghaire: what usually goes
Near the harbour and along Georges Street, many of the tall Victorian terraces are now flats, and they turn over often. Landlords clearing a flat near the DART usually need a bed, a mattress, a sofa and a wardrobe gone before the next tenant, with the price agreed before anyone arrives.
Up the hill, in Glenageary, Sallynoggin, Ballybrack and Shankill, family homes fill attics and garages instead. Close to the sea, salt air is hard on garden furniture, so a rusted bench or a tired patio set is worth adding while we're there.
Steps, lanes and hill roads
Access is the local challenge. A top-floor flat off Georges Street can mean several flights of stairs. A cottage in Glasthule or Sandycove may open straight onto the footpath with nowhere to stop outside. A house on Killiney Hill can sit at the end of a steep drive.
None of that rules a job out, and none of it costs extra: the call-out covers two loaders carrying from anywhere in the property. Once you've booked, reply to your confirmation email with the floor, any steps and where the van can pull in.
Ballyogan Recycling Park, and when we suit better
Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council's recycling centre is Ballyogan Recycling Park on Ballyogan Road, Dublin 18. It's for household waste only and large vans aren't allowed in. The council also asks you to bring help for heavy items, because staff can't help with unloading.
That works if you have a car, a strong friend and a free afternoon. If the sofa is on the third floor and you don't drive, we carry it down and take it away. (Council details checked October 2026; see the council's page for opening times and charges.)
